Unpretentious and kid-friendly, visitors can select from a grand menu of authentic Indonesian, Malaysian and Singaporean dining. Favorite (and top-selling) dishes include giant bowls of Singapore laksa, a creamy coconut soup with rice, noodles and seafood, and rending padang, a heavily spicy beef curry. Melati is a great restaurant... it definitely hit the spot. The location and ambiance are nothing great... but the food is worth the visit. Although tasty, it wasn't 100% authentic. The Nasi Goreng, one of my favorites was tasty but was more like a Chinese fried rice dish than the original nasi goreng...

Melati is a real find in Soho. Good food, the menu is explained to you, if required(i did). The restaurant has an informal ,relaxed atmosphere. The food is fairly priced and delicious. A real exotic taste in a buzzy place. Well worth a visit.

This was our first time at Melati, and we discovered that it does what it says on the tin. It is an inexpensive Malysian/Indonesian restaurant tucked out of the way between Carnaby Street and Picadilly Circus. The setting and the food are both fairly basic, but it is fit for purpose, and the dishes were plentiful and tasty. Our only gripe was that, when we asked for an extra cup for the pot of jasmine tea we ordered, they charged us for another order of tea, which seemed unnecessary.

With a deceptively dingy front that is easily lost amongst its surroundings, Melati was a great suprise. The service was excellent, the prices reasonable and the food was to die for. A particular favourite was the seafood noodle soup (Laksa??). Although quiet, this place would suit all diners ranging from couples to large groups. A definite ten out of ten.

We had to choose the hottest and most humid day to get the real Malay feel in this place. The food was good but not amazing but just on the other reviews I will probably go back to able to make a second more constructive review. I can say that the service could've been a little faster and the decor does need refreshing.

Authentic Malaysian food. But the 'spicy' dishes were far too hot/spicy for the average british public and my poor companion could not even eat what he ordered! Even as a Malaysian, I struggled with the chillies. It was very hot inside and the airconditioning was only switched on when requested. Service was very friendly but I thought the meal was expensive, even by London standards. Remember to ask them to tone the chillies down!

Melati was average - being a large table we could not fault the service but they could improve the food e.g. satay very dry, sambal dishes relatively on the bland side. Try harder!

Most of the food was good, and having eaten a lot of Malaysian food, not much to fault at Melati. The corn fritters were dry and chewy and the kue (dessert) was not up to the standard one can find at some other restaurants but overall had a good meal. Service was very friendly.

I love this place! I went there recently via a toptable booking for my birthday. When my friends told the waiter it was my birthday I got a free birthday cake (made from banana fritters and ice cream - yum) and free drinks. Even without the freebies, it's great food at reasonable prices. I'm veggie - they have a great selection of veggie foods. Try Tahu Telur and their veggie satay starters!
